Undergraduate in the Kyle Allen OrthoBME lab at the University of Florida (Feb. 2025 - Present)

I work with 8 undergraduate students under the guidance of graduate mentor Ashleigh Abbott to prepare tissue samples for the immunostaining process. Our preparation methods include sectioning samples on a cryostat and microtome. These samples are a part of the REJOIN project, which aims to determine how the neurons involved in chronic pain affect joint innervation patterns.
Research Intern & Lab Technician at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (Jun. 2023 - Apr. 2024)
-
I completed a 6-week research internship under the guidance of principal investigator Sarah Stern and mentors Maria Olvera Caltzontzin and Sebastien Bullich. My project focused on the use of methods such as immunohistochemistry to determine the relevance of individual brain regions in hedonic (non-homeostatic) feeding behaviors. My responsibilities included sectioning tissue samples, completing the immunostaining process, imaging samples with a fluorescent microscope, and quantifying identified neurons with ImageJ. After my internship, I remained as a lab technician and implemented new inventory software to improve administrative efficiency for a lab of 20+ researchers.

I shadowed 2 doctors and 4 certified medical administrative assistants (CMAA) at Cleveland Clinic to earn my CMAA certification. My responsibilities included updating patient charts in the MyChart software, performing and recording vital signs, and practicing cleaning procedures.
Internal Affairs Committee Co-Director for Freshmen Leadership Engineering Group (Aug. 2025 - Present)

I lead a group of 8 freshmen in planning and executing community-based events designed to promote interconnectivity and collaboration within the organization. These events facilitate social interaction by emphasizing teamwork in a fun and welcoming environment. Additionally, I collaborate with 19 other leadership members to enhance the professional development skills of a group of 50 freshmen with activities such as LinkedIn and resume reviews.
Internal Affairs Committee Ambassador for Freshmen Leadership Engineering Group (Sep. 2024 - Apr. 2025)
-
I was part of a team of 9 engineering undergraduates that created and organized social events, emphasizing values of teamwork and friendship to facilitate a strong sense of community within the organization. Notable events include an end-of-year banquet and a spring retreat for 70+ people. In addition to event planning, I led a committee meeting and proposed a comprehensive budget for our $3000 retreat.
Frame Sub-Team Ambassador for University of Florida Steam Team (Sep. 2024 - Apr. 2025)

I assisted with the design and execution of an interactive installation displayed at the Cade Museum for Creativity and Innovation. The product engaged the intended audience of children, ages 5-12, by incorporating the 5 simple machines in 4 different architectural scenes. I collaborated with a group of 6 undergraduates to build the wood frame utilizing a drill press.
